Snow Rafting

For family and group members who aren’t ski or snowboard inclined, or if your legs need a bit of a break but you still want to slide down a hill, consider tubing as an activity. The next town west of the Canyons (you passed it on the way in) is Jeremy Park, where Gorgoza Park has multiple lanes of snow tubing at $40 for 4 hours, or $28 for 2 hours. It's right off the freeway and easy to get to, but if you don’t have a rental you’ll want to take an Uber or bus.

Tobogganing

The Alpine coaster at the Park City base is a family favorite activity. Accessible at the base of Payday Express, a lift system whisks you to the top of the track before you whiz down the mountain in a toboggan style car on nearly 4,000 ft of track.

Utah Olympic Park

Just off the road from the Interstate into Park City is Utah Olympic Park, the site of sliding and ski jumping events from the 2002 Winter Olympics and a museum dedicated to the games. How many other ski holidays have you been on where you could also take a bobsled ride?

Other Activities

Sundance Film Festival

Park City is home to the world famous Sundance Film Festival, which happens in late January. It attracts celebrities, former celebrities, and star-gazers from around the world. It might be a time you want to avoid if you don’t like crowds (and a spike in room rates), or a time to aim for if you’d like to combine the opportunity to rub elbows with Luke Skywalker himself with your skiing (no, really – Mark Hamill was one of the many who attended in 2017).

Shopping

For shopping, there’s a horde of souvenir shops in Park City proper as well as boutiques on Main street including Root'd, where you'll find unique and earth-inspired home décor and classy handmade gifts. There are also outlet stores in Kimball Junction.

Massage

If you’re not actually broken, but just getting old like the rest of us and maybe overdid it, there are places in town to get a massage. You can ask around or see if your lodging spot offers it, or you can go to the Westgate in Canyons Village and book yourself some rejuvenation with the concierge.

Ski Hire

The resort runs rental operations at both the Canyons and the Park City base area, and there are plenty of other rental outlets in the town. If you'd rather spend more time on the slopes than in a ski rental queue, be sure to check out Black Tie Ski Rentals' delivery service. Place your order for skis, snowboards, boots and helmets before you arrive and they will deliver the equipment and do a professional, custom fitting in your hotel room, condo or vacation home.

Ski Lessons

The resort-run ski-school is the only game in town for lessons. They offer instruction for all levels, and have private as well as group lessons available. Prices for the upcoming season will be available on the resort’s website in November, however they’re generally expensive. Other area resorts have perfectly good ski schools at more economical rates, so if you have beginners in your group or family you may want to consider including Snowbasin, Brighton, or Solitude in your trip.

Child Care

Childcare is available through the resort for kids from six weeks to six years old. For ages six weeks to 23 months, the price is $140 for a full day (baby food, formula, and diapers not included) and $110 for a half day. For ages two through 6, the price is $135 and includes food and snacks. Kids above two can also get a ski lesson and rental package for an extra $270.

Guardian Angel, Mother Goose Child Care Services, and Park City Sitters will come to your lodging to take care of the kids, and have hourly rates (with a minimum booking); they’re also available in the evenings to sit the kids while mom and dad go out. Guardian Angel and Mother Goose also offer rental baby gear and grocery delivery.

Health

Park City operates a professional and well-trained Ski Patrol. You can flag one of them down for help, or if for some reason you don’t see one you can ask any resort employee. There are clinics at both the Canyons and Park City base areas while for more serious injuries, there is a hospital about 4 mi from the Park City base area.

Banking

There are ATMs at each base area, including the bottom of Town Lift. Credit cards are accepted throughout the resort and accepted widely in town.

Supermarket

If you're staying in the Historic Park City, you'll either need to take a bus to Fresh Market on Park Ave or have groceries delivered as there are no supermarkets here. There is a small convenience store at the Park City Base Area though for more variety walk or take a bus over to Fresh Market. At the Canyons Village, there is a small market in the Westgate building otherwise take a bus or drive to Smiths or Whole Foods Market at Kimball Junction.
